The Rucksack Will Be Back on June 10th!

As you all can probably tell from this blog, I have pretty severe GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) but I totally embrace it. I was practically drooling over my laptop when looking at this camera. The most common medium format cameras are typically 6×6.45, 6×6 and 6×7. Each ratio is different and requires a different vision for each. This camera I have dubbed a monster of medium format (cue Jaws theme song). The FujiGX617.

This behemoth of a camera takes photos in a panoramic 6×17 format. You can check out some photos on Flickr to see a large selection. This camera weighs about 4 pounds and will run you about $2000 off of KEH.com.

It’s interesting to see a camera that shoots specifically in panoramic shots. When most of us think of panoramas we either think about stitching to them together in Photoshop or using our iPhones to take a sweeping panorama. I can only imagine the images this camera creates loaded up with Velvia 50. If anyone has any experience using a Fuji GX617, I’d love to hear about it! Please leave a comment below! I have attached several beautiful photos I found taken on a Fuji GX617.
